TPE is short for thermoplastic elastomer. It describes materials combining elastic behavior with thermoplastic processing characteristics, rather than all elastomers.

TPE includes styrenic, polyolefin and polyurethane material families. Classification and formulation should be checked against specific technical information.

Application areas include automotive parts, wire and cable, tool handles, sporting goods, protective films and seals. Processing, strength, reprocessing and compliance requirements depend on the material and intended use.

The name TPE alone does not establish that a material is non-toxic, environmentally harmless or RoHS certified. Compliance information should identify the product, scope and supporting documents.
