The original article introduced polyether, polyester, aromatic and aliphatic systems. Hardness, transparency, oil resistance, abrasion resistance and weathering performance should be checked for the specific grade and conditions.
Applications discussed included wire and cable, films and sheets, hoses and tubing. Processing and service requirements need individual assessment; descriptions such as high hardness or a rough feel do not apply to every TPU.
