Infusion-set material safety requires evaluation of the formulation, contact with medicinal fluids, manufacturing and sterilization conditions, and the finished device. The names PVC or TPE alone do not establish safety or drug compatibility.
Assessment should address the specific medical device and intended use. Raw-material information can contribute to the assessment but cannot replace evaluation of the finished device and its use requirements.
